Fishing in Mayo

The many local lakes that surround Ballyhaunis – Errit, Lake O’Flynn, Bekan, Island, Mannin and Urlaur are all within a seven mile radius of the town. These offer the angler excellent game and course fishing opportunities within a very short distance of the town. Perch, tench, pike and trout are abundant.

They not only provide the angler with game and coarse fishing but also the visitor with the peaceful, calm surroundings where they can breath in the fresh, clean air and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Around the lakes there are many historical artifacts to be found such as crannógs and fullachta fiadha (ancient cooking sites) and many other treasures from the past. The Courthouse is a great base for fishing in Mayo and the West of Ireland.
